A 48-Hour Live Music Weekend in London: Sample Itinerary

A ready-made two-day London music itinerary: record shops, a gig, a club night, a Sunday session and tips on getting home late.

How to use this itinerary

London is huge, so the secret to a good music weekend is picking one or two neighbourhoods per day rather than criss-crossing the city. This plan keeps Saturday in the east and Sunday in the south, so you spend your time in venues rather than on the Tube.

Swap in whatever is actually on the week you visit — our London events page lists this week's gigs and club nights, and the Pulse trip planner can build a version around your own dates and genres.

Saturday daytime: records and warm-up

Start late morning around Soho or Hackney digging through independent record shops — staff are usually happy to recommend what's playing locally that weekend. Grab lunch at a market, then rest up: London nights run late.

Early evening, head to a pub near your venue. Pubs are where most UK nights begin, and it is far cheaper than drinking inside a club.

Saturday night: gig into club

Pick a live show that starts around 7–8pm and finishes by 11pm, then move to a club night nearby that runs until 3–6am. East London is ideal for this, with gig venues and clubs within walking distance of each other.

The Night Tube runs on several lines on Friday and Saturday nights, and night buses cover the rest, so you don't need a taxi to get home.

Sunday: day party and a slower finish

Sunday in London is made for day parties and afternoon sessions — soulful house, amapiano and garage events often run from early afternoon into the evening, especially south of the river.

Finish with something low-key: a jazz bar, an open-mic night or a free gig. Check our free events page for anything happening that evening.
